Often referred to simply as Mayo Clinic Florida, this medical center is located in the largest Floridian city. Spread over 400 acres of land, it opened in 1986 and it’s been successfully operating ever since.

With over 300 hospital beds, it’s specializing in orthopedics, pulmonology & lung surgery, and urology. 

Aside from those specialties, it’s also very well developed when it comes to neurology and neurosurgery, as well as gastroenterology.

This hospital’s orthopedic results make it the best hospital for orthopedic procedures in Florida, and also one of the best in the country.

The University of Florida Health Shands Hospital is a teaching hospital in Gainesville. 

It’s part of the health system of the University of Florida, meaning that residents and interns work with practicing physicians to learn their specialties.

This hospital has several smaller centers and clinics as part of its system; a children’s hospital, cancer hospital, heart and vascular hospital, neuromedicine hospital, rehab and psychiatric hospital as well as two emergency centers.

UF Health Shands Hospital is by far the best pediatrics hospital in Florida.

With even more beds than the Gainesville University Hospital, AdventHealth is a non-profit hospital and research (academic and medical) center in Orlando. It’s also the largest university-level teaching center in the region.

AdventHealth has been operating since 1908, and it currently has four institutes in its management. 

It’s one of the best hospitals for cardiovascular procedures in Florida because of its cardiovascular institute, but they also have a diabetes institute, cancer institute and an orthopedic institute.

Another non-profit hospital and academic medical center is Tampa General. This is one of the largest medical centers in western Florida, covering the largest part of the region.
